Instructions to Sew a Regular Zipper without a Zipper Foot

Sewing the Right Side of the Zipper

Start with the right side of the zipper but you might have to pull upwards as you sew along.

Near the end of the right side, pull up the zipper head and continue sewing until you reach the bottom of the zipper on the right side (don't forget to lock it with a double stitch).

Before starting to sew the left side of the zipper, pin it in place and make sure it align with the right side as shown on pic no. 4.

Sewing the Left Side of the Zipper

Unzip the zipper and start sewing and pull upwards as you sew along.  

When nearing the bottom end, pull up the zipper head and sew until the bottom end.With the sewing needle still inside your garment, lift up the presser foot and turn the zipper and sew as shown on pic no.3 and double stitch to lock it and you're done.
