Greek Goddess Costume for Halloween Party or Prom Night

Here's a sketch of this 2 Piece Greek Goddess Costume....with suggested costume jewellery to complete the look

Start with the Basic Bodice

  1. Draw out the Bodice with your own Shoulder, Bust and Waist Measurements on folded paper
  2. Open up the paper and cut open the neck to chest area as shown and close up dart on the right side of  the bodice, but leave the left side uncut

Create the One Shoulder Look

  1. Lengthen the bodice (about 6 to 8 inches) for tuck in allowance
  2. Cut off the left side shoulder and cut open across from the neck to the waist for gathering allowance
  3. To keep it simple and easy, front and back measurement is the same, so you have to cut out 2 pieces.

Sewing the Zipper and fastening the attachment

  1. Fasten the zipper with the opening at the bottom and ends near the top
  2. Sew the attachment with gathers on one end and fasten to the garment on the shoulder area with a brooch

Creating the Overlap Skirt

  1. Draft the skirt pattern with your waist and hip measurements
  2. Leave an extra about 9cm at the front for overlapping allowance
  3. Attach the waistband and fastener (using button / buttonhole or hook)

Finish The Look with a Golden Sash

Spaghetti Straps Summer Top

Free Spaghetti Straps Summer Top DIY pattern with your own measurements.

Before drafting of paper pattern, you have to take your own measurements.

Place a strand of folded thread inside the strip of cloth before sewing with the center loop sticking out

After finish sewing, push the tip in a bit, and you can start pulling the thread from
the other end, inside out.  Pull it out slowly and be careful not to break the thread.

.....and you're almost done.

Tie the straps on both sides or one side

You can make these as many as you like as it requires less than 1 meter of cloth and
with any type of materials you prefer.  Happy sewing.

DIY Kimono for Casual Wear

The Kimono, wear it with denim, black and white combinations and eh.. any other colors that you can think off. Dare you wear it with a black tight skirt to the office?
Try to use light, thin and preferably transparent materials.  The material I used here is chiffon (cost: RM12.00 / meter).  Never use satin or it will turn out like an overall for your nighties.

The Simple Paper Pattern

1) Measure your shoulder and divide it by 2, then plus 12 (for that off shoulder look).
                 Example: shoulder = 36 cm ÷ 2 +12 = 30 cm
                 30 cm - 8 cm (neckline) = 22 cm
2) Measure the desired length, the extra 8 cm on the back is optional.

If you have a fuller or rounded figure, you can leave both sides, from the bottom up      about 14-18 cm unstitched.  The length of the front and back pieces should be the          same. Doing it this way, you will look slimmer as it will be able to conceal a rounded      figure.

On Cloth

Material : Chiffon, 45 inches wide, 1 to 1 1/2 meter (depending on the length).

The Kimono, after cutting out the materials and placing it together before sewing, will look something like this.

Match it with a cream color camisole

With the back piece a little longer, it will look like the picture on the left.  Hope you like the pattern and enjoy trying it out.

The Little Black Dress

I deliberately did this pattern with loose measurements on the waist area so I can style it differently, like wearing a belt or a sash and you don't have to have the perfect figure to wear it.

Proceed with measuring your own measurements: Click Here for Reference

1.  Your Shoulder (the placement of the straps on your shoulder)
     * You can make the straps closer to your neck and hence, the armhole area a little             bigger as you wish but measure properly before you cut your cloth.
2.  Your Bust Point
3.  Bust Measurement
4.  Waist
5.  Hip

You can even skip the darts on the back (optional) if u prefer it to be even more loose    fitting.

Wear it with a belt or let it loose.
